  • How often will the issues/chapters be released?

    • We want to ensure consistency to our readers. There's nothing more frustrating than getting hooked on a good series only to wait for an eternity for the next issue.

    • We pledge to be transparent about our release dates and you can see them on the READ chapters page.

    • We will release the first two issues January 1st 2025 and February 1st 2025. Then our aim is to release every other month going forward, but will update the site if schedule adjusts.  We are indie, remember, we appreciate the understanding.

  • How many issues will there be?

    • We believe strongly in a closed story.  We don't want to create something that never ends and never gives closure like a sitcom or endless tv series, where the story seems to have fake endings and unmotivated restarts.

    • That said, we want the story to take exactly as long as needed and as we flesh out that middle section, it may grow or shrink a little. The ending is already set in stone, but a few moments of just how we get there, is adjustable.

    • Our current aim is about 20-25 issues/chapters.

  • Where can I buy the printed version?

    • You can purchase the printed comic on our website!

    • We currently do not sell at Amazon, Barnes & Noble or other Retailers, as publishing can be expensive.

    • We do plan to publish into the larger book sellers and comic shops as we grow.  Check back for updates.

  • What's the difference between the digital version and the print version?

    • While they contain the same story, we wanted to ensure the print version is extra special as it costs to print!

    • The images are full resolution, print quality, in glorious full black and white.

      • Paperbacks will be full black and white

      • Hardcovers will have spot color with gold foil covers.

    • Each scene has an extra, designed, title card.

    • The appendix contains behind the scenes production imagery not available online

    • You'll have a print copy forever, even if our website goes down (hoping that won't happen!)

  • How big is your team? What do you mean by "Indie"?

    • As of now, there are just two of us doing the bulk of creative work: Jack Kasprzak and Slavik IA (writing and illustration). Roberto Esquivel is our co-founder and Executive Producer.

    • We have a story consultant, Elizabeth Chun, that acts as fresh eyes on our story and helps us sort out issues.

    • During our "pre-build" phase, (when we were heavily creating 3d characters, props, and sets) we did have a larger team of freelancers.  See our credits page for a full list of contributors and artists.

    • "Indie" means independent.  We are not under the umbrella of a large label, publishing house or studio.  We are privately funded and self run/managed.   We depend entirely on merchandise sales and donations.

  • Did this really take 15 years to make?

    • The first character drawings began 15 years ago, when Jack Kasprzak started the Daily Mobster blog.

    • Those first iterations lived on in multiple treatments for film and tv, and eventually became what is now The Daily Mobster graphic novel online comic.

    • Once we began production of this comic, it took us about 8 months from beginning writing the first scenes, creating the 3d models and art, to publishing the first issue.

  • Do you use AI to write the story or generate the characters?

    • We have been mistaken for AI because of our highly polished, rendered look.  This is our signature "cinematic graphic novel" look.  We take this accusation as partial compliment and partial insult.  The AI revolution is a big one, with massive impact on the art community, and while we don't discount its place in the world, we have instead chosen to employ our own creativity and hire artists and writers to produce this comic.  See the credits page to see the incredible talent.

    • We do not use AI to write any of our story.  All concepts, outlines and scripts have been in development since 2016 and involve industry writers.  See our credits page for the incredible indie writing talent behind The Daily Mobster.

    • We do not use AI to create our characters. They are all original designs by Jack Kasprzak.

      • Characters are first hand drawn, See the characters page to see the original designs.

      • Characters are then 3D sculpted, rigged and textured using traditional 3D animation methods like Autodesk Maya, Blender and Adobe Photoshop.

      • The scenes are put together just like an animated production, posed, lit and rendered using Maxon Redshift

      • See the About Page for a brief look at the process, OR purchase a print copy to get exclusive behind the scenes production imagery.

  • Is The Daily Mobster ever going to be animated?

    • As animators originally, we developed The Daily Mobster as an animated series, and then began retooling it as a feature length script.  One of the goals was to have it animated.

    • However, as indie artists, animation is incredible expensive and slow. And we don't believe in using AI to animate our world for us, so we wanted to first bring it to life in a medium we could control and complete ourselves without big studio interference or censorship.

    • We still have ambitions of pitching The Daily Mobster to studios, AFTER the story is published and complete.
